Beth

Garrett and I met a very special 10 year old girl yesterday named Beth. Not only was she a beautiful young lady, but she has quite a story to tell. She was born in Ethiopia, adopted by an amazing family and brought home 9 months later. She lives in a community similar to ours, and was able to share some of the joys she has experienced being an adopted child in an interracial family. What a privilege it was to meet her family last night and hear her adoption story.

I wasn't sure, going into our "Buddy Family" meeting, who we would meet or what their story might be, but I was pleasantly surprised by the experience and riveted to what this family had to share. From all the paperwork, to the waiting list, to travel and bringing baby home, they were open and quick to share their stories, support and excitement with us.

I have learned that there area so many different adoption stories. Every family goes on different paths with different hoops to jump through. That said, each family I have had the joy of speaking with, would do it a million times over to bring their children home and this family is no different. I am so thankful for our time with them and look forward to keeping in touch.
