Making Faces

We had the strangest weather this week. We went from 8 inches of snow on Monday, to record setting colds on Tuesday, to 75 degrees yesterday!
Tank tops, shorts and sundresses were worn as we spent hours outside. The girls discovered the hose and it's uses. We were washing hair, feet, hands and (of course) Dudley while pretend water flowed freely from the long green snake attached to the side of the house.
Chairs that have been stacked up all winter were brought down and placed on the deck for the perfect little snack time. We had a pretend tea party and made all sorts of food with the gardening tools so easily available on the back porch. Macie was in charge of the meal, but Ella (in true Ella form) checked up on the progress from time to time as it was taking a bit longer than expected. Macie was fairly sure the meal was just too "hot" to eat.
After Daddy got home we all had some drawing time on outside and sat down for our first picnic. The girls loved it and Momma loved that there were no dishes or real clean-up to do. It made me realize how much I missed Bar-B-Ques back home. We will have to remedy that problem and go out and get one for ourselves this Spring. Sadly, Dudley was stuck laying near by and watching us eat. He has a history of jumping the fence (and had earlier in the day) so he watched enviously from the shade of a tree.
The girls came in after dinner and worked on their A,B,C's. Ella has just started singing over the last week and her little raspy voice is too cute!
Yesterday we went to the zoo and wandered around. We saw some Lions, Tigers, and... well, I suppose Pandas don't really fit in the whole "Wizard of Oz" song, but they ARE bears!! We also saw an elephant go the bathroom and that was by FAR the highlight of the trip. The girls took it very seriously and woke up this morning stating it as a new fun fact that they had been lucky enough to witness for themselves.
We did catch some cute photos of them together yesterday. They are the first pictures I have really taken of the girls together with that specific intention. While they may not sit still for long, they were kind enough to give me a few pretty cute little photos.
There are a lot of pictures of silly faces in here too. I just wanted have this longing to get all of their little expressions on film before they grow beyond the point of making them this way anymore.
Garrett thoughtfully reminded me yesterday that our generation has a thing about needing to get all of our life's moments on film in order for them to "count", so enjoy this little grouping of memories. I may be too busy living in the moment to grab it on film from now on.....
