Did I get your attention with that title?!?! Garrett and I have been looking for a special way to give this Christmas. We are trying to simplify the holiday and keep things small. There is so much that we have in our lives that we don't need. Over the past few months we have talked to many other families that feel the same way and our motivation for changing things has set in.
Maybe it is the process of our adoption and all the education that has come along with it, but we
are continuously reminded of others in the world that have so much less. So, we started looking for good organizations that we felt comfortable giving to. I am sure that many have heard of various programs that give internationally through funding, education, nutritional supplies, etc. We uncovered a organization that combines all three.
Heifer.org, is a tremendous program that gives directly to families throughout the world that can use livestock as a resource for all of the above. We are encouraging all of our friends and family to check it out and give what you can. It is only when basic needs are met, that the message of God's love can be heard. From the cost of a cheap dinner out, to much larger gifts, this company has come up with a great way to contribute to the lives of those that are the most in need.
A new family tradition has begun in this little household of ours- the giving of livestock! Who woulda thunk it?
p.s. I added a link to the organization under "Read Up on the Programs" (right side bar -->)
