An African Reality

A reminder of what those on the other side of the world are dealing with. It is easy to put in the back of our minds- but we need to remember and keep it all in prayer.

6 and a half thousand africans dying every single day of AIDS--A preventable treatable disease.
Thats not a cause, Thats an emergency.
There are 11 million Aids orphans in Africa, There will be 20 million by the end of the decade.
Thats not a cause, thats an emergency.
Everyday 9 thousand more Africans catch HIV because of stigmatization and lack of education.
Thats not a cause, thats an emergency.
What we are facing in Africa is an unprecedented threat to human dignity and equality.
This is not about charity, this is about JUSTICE! This is too bad because Americans are good at charity... even the poorest neighborhoods give more than they can give...we like to give and we give a lot. Justice is a tougher standard than charity.
Africa makes a fool of our idea of justice. There is no way we can look at what is happening in Africa and conclude that it would ever be allowed to happen anywhere else.. Not in America, Not in Europe.
There is no chance this kind of hemmorraging would ever be accepted in any other continent other than Africa. Africa is a continent in flames. If we really believed Africans were equal to us, we would all be doing more to put the fire out.
Does stuff have to look like an action movie these days to exist in the front of our brain. The slow extinguishing of countless lives is just not dramatic enough for us.
This is our crisis! Though Africa is not the frontline in the War against terror it could be soon, Every week religious extremists take over another African village in attempt to bring order to chaos. WHY AREN'T WE? Poverty breeds despair. Despair breeds violence.
A whole continent written off....
Let's continue to pray and put into action, all that we can to make thier world better.
