OK- so it's only been a month of waiting and now all I can do is hope that we can get through the next 10 - 12! There is minimal transition in this little house of ours for the next three months and while I suppose I should be thankful the prep time (for the move to MD), I find myself beginning to fidget. In the waiting there is packing a box here and there, basic chores around that house, and the all encompassing obsession of following everyone else's adoption progress.
Let me explain what each morning is like for this little chick.....

Wake up (whenever that happens depends on the shift the day/night before), grab breakfast and immediately go the computer. I go to the CHSFS website and check the forum. Over half of the other adoptive families using our agency gather there on a regular basis to update one another on what is going on with their lives during the wait, through referral, courts, and preparing for travel. It's amazing what information you can get from other people and a great way to connect.
Anyway, there are key words we all tend to hold our breath for, "Referral!", "Court date" and "Travel date". While there have been a few travel dates and returnees over the last week (Yeah!), referrals have been lagging. If I have counted correctly there has only been one in the last month and a half and the rest of us are pulling our hair out!!!!!
There are reasons things happen the way they do, but I have to admit I feel for the families that have been hovering on the top of that list for a while. Needless to say, I am seriously rethinking my daily routine, but if you see me in the next 10 months missing chunks of hair, or entirely bald for that matter, you'll just have to forgive me.
On a good (and totally random) note- I took this picture and I think it's pretty cool. .... :)

  1. Question (and no laughing like Lindsay, our CHSFS rep, did :) ): We are already planning when we will reapply for baby #2, but we are likely going to be moving to a different state during the second wait. Lindsay was pretty discouraging about moving states during the wait, but it seems that is what you guys are doing. I just wondered if you could provide some insight on the challenges that come with doing that, so we are prepared. It would be so much easier if they would just let us reapply now :), but I guess there are many good reasons to make us wait a bit longer :).

Oh, and I like the picture :)
